Hoghton Tower Wedding – If there is ever a perfect wedding for Hoghton Tower, nr Preston then it has to be a military wedding. Dec & Claire’s wedding day was, I have to say, one …of the happiest occasions I’ve ever attended – just look at the pic below of when Claire first meets Dec at the front of church and look, not only at them but family and friends too, if you need the proof! A perfect moment of happiness captured in time.
Some couples are natural in front of a camera and these two were very much this and in fact this is something I had very quickly realised at our first meeting at their pre-wed shoot. (FYI: I can’t recommend a pre-wed shoot enough, especially if the thought of being in front of a camera on your wedding day might feel a bit daunting, as it’s a perfect way to not only get used to the camera but also for us to get to know one another before the big day.)
For me, photographing a military wedding – especially when it’s a couple such as Dec & Claire – opened up some unique photo opportunities. Yes, there is of course the wonderful arch of drawn swords on leaving church but also there was, in their case, a little well known one where the officers in the congregation stand and half draw their swords in response to when the priest asks if anyone has any objection to the marriage – just wonderful and yes, there’s a pic below too showing this!
As I mentioned at the start, Hoghton Tower is the perfect setting for a military wedding with all it’s grandeur and rooms to match, rooms that offer a perfect setting for this occasion, whether it be the magnificent banqueting hall for the breakfast or the more intimate ball room for those later shots. Let’s not forget the grounds too …
Dec & Claire (& little Noah of course!) it has been a pleasure to get to know you and to be a part of your amazing wedding day and myself and Rho wish you every happiness together. Cx
