Mumbai – Street Photography: To the total worry of my parents, in the early 80s I decided to take myself off to Bombay – with only a change of underwear packed amongst my camera equipment (2x Pentax MXs + Ilford HP5 film) – to capture the streets of …… India. It was such a culture shock and I don’t mind admitting it, initially scary too but everyone was so friendly and kind and you have to remember, this was a time before real tourism over there so as I walked around, the novelty of a photographer walking down the alleyways and into the shanty towns attracted constant interest & followers from the children & adults alike. Here are just a few, from the many that I took; unfortunately, I still have a folder full of negatives that I have never got round to developing and printing. (One day I’ll get myself that negative scanner!) These images are of course from a darkroom and the dodging and burning on these images is the old fashioned and very, laborious way – no Photoshop!
